RHS Tatton Park 2015

As a finalist of RHS Young Designer of the Year, my show garden was built at Tatton Park Show, Cheshire.

My design showcased the key elements you would expect to find in an English country garden and repurposed them for a city space.

Crisp turf seats were set within flowing, textural planting, whilst a cedar pavilion with reflective water features provided a secluded retreat.

Country Garden

This county garden near Ilkley was designed to complement the landscape surrounding the property.

Textural planting in muted colours creates a relaxed, informal space.

Large Town Garden

In this family garden in Harrogate, a traditional layout created formal structure.

This was balanced by generous borders filled with soft, drifting planting.

RHS Great London Plant Fair 2015

The three finalists of RHS Young Designer of the Year were, for the first time in 2015, asked to collaborate to design and put together a show garden for the RHS Great London Plant Fair, held at the RHS’s London halls in Victoria.

The garden we designed was a front garden for a young London couple. The design was a space with room for all the necessities of a front garden including car parking, but maximised interesting and wildlife friendly planting and using only permeable surfaces and reclaimed materials.

I was asked by Bert and May spaces to design a garden in which to set one of their two bedroom boxes for its launch at Decorex international 2015, held at Syon Park, London.

The garden took the form of informal meadow planting referencing an imagined country setting. Soft, textural planting contrasted the geometric lines of the box whilst complimenting its reclaimed timber construction.
